On Wednesday, 1st April 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Bishop Stuart University, under the 21st Guild Government, in partnership with the BSU Law Society and the Female Lawyers Network, successfully hosted a Legal Symposium at the Faculty of Law. The symposium was held under the theme: “Beyond the Exam: Essential Skills for a Successful Legal Career.” The event aimed at equipping law students with practical knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the legal profession beyond academic excellence.

The symposium attracted several distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Joyce Nalunga, who served as the main speaker. In her keynote address, Dr. Nalunga emphasized the importance of building meaningful professional connections, discouraging the habit of making excuses, and encouraged students to work hard and excel academically. She further advised students to seek mentorship as a pathway to achieving success in both their professional and personal lives.

Other notable speakers and guests included Mr. Sigire Adonia, Mr. Medard Nabaasa the University Secretary, H.E. Beinomugisha Robert the Guild President, and Hon. Otaremwa Elijah, the Minister of Justice in the 21st Guild Government who organised the event and many other dignitaries

The day’s activities featured insightful keynote speeches and a symbolic tree planting exercise led by Dr. Joyce Nalunga, highlighting the importance of growth, sustainability, and legacy within the legal profession. The symposium was a great success, leaving attendees inspired and better prepared to navigate their future legal careers with confidence and purpose.
