On 8th March 2025, Bishop Stuart University held a remarkable Cultural Gala and Women’s Day Celebration, hosted by the 20th Minister of Gender, Hon. Nakunda Recheal, together with the 20th Minister of Campus Affairs, Hon. Rukundo Muzafaru. The event was graced by Hon. Ritah Bwahika, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside Ms. Bilabwa Joan, the Guest of Honor, and Hon. Ruteraho Lilian, who delivered an inspiring keynote address as the Guest Speaker. The celebration brought together students, staff, and distinguished guests to honor Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and recognize the immense contributions of women to society.

In her speech, Chief Guest Hon. Ritah Bwahika applauded the efforts of the university and student leadership in organizing an event that not only embraced cultural diversity but also empowered women. She encouraged students to uphold their traditions while embracing modern opportunities for personal and professional growth. Guest of Honor Ms. Bilabwa Joan emphasized the need for gender inclusivity in all sectors, urging young women to be confident, resilient, and ambitious in pursuing their goals. Guest Speaker Hon. Ruteraho Lilian inspired the audience with a powerful message on women’s leadership, highlighting the importance of education, mentorship, and collective effort in advancing gender equality.

The Cultural Gala featured a fashion show, where students showcased a variety of styles, including cultural wear, casual wear, church wear, party wear, office wear, creative wear, and talent performances. The event also included a thrilling cultural dance competition, with different regions displaying their unique traditional dances. The audience was treated to breathtaking performances that reflected the beauty and diversity of Uganda’s cultures. After a highly competitive showcase, the Bakonzo region emerged as the overall winner, earning them the top prize and recognition for their outstanding presentation and creativity.

As the Cultural Gala and Women’s Day Celebration came to a close, attendees were left with a renewed sense of pride and determination to uphold the values of equality and cultural appreciation. The 20th Guild Government, through this event, reinforced its dedication to creating a university environment where both men and women can thrive, lead, and contribute meaningfully to society. The event not only celebrated tradition and talent but also strengthened the spirit of unity among students and the entire BSU community.
