COMMISSIONING OF THE GUILD CANTEEN AT RUHARO CAMPUS, BISHOP STUART UNIVERSITY
*Commissioning of the Guild Canteen at BSU Ruharo Campus Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences.*
On 17th May 2024, the Bishop of Ankole Diocese and the Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University laid a foundation stone and commissioned the Guild Canteen at BSU Ruharo Campus. The Bishop was accompanied by the Acting VC Prof Gershom Atukunda, the US Assimwe Annah Tibazindwa, Dean of Students Rev. Francis Muhangi, the Dean Faculty Mrs Annah Tweheyo Representatives of outgoing and incoming Guild Council.
The 19th Guild Council led by Guild President Ankunda Best Arnold put together resources to build a modern Guild Canteen at BSU Ruharo Campus. This Canteen upon completion will help students to access services within the campus. In his remarks the outgoing Guild President thanked God who aided them to put up the facility. He noted that they started the project on 18th March 2024. The Dean Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences Mrs Annah Tweheyo welcomed and complimented the Bishop for giving them land to accommodate the Ruharo Campus. She noted that the faculty started in 2019 and has been progressing well. They have recently bought equipment worth 100m to aid students while studying and are looking forward to setting up laboratories that would enable them to begin Medicine courses in the next five years or so. The Acting VC Prof Gershom Atukunda thanked the Bishop for honoring their invitation. He thanked the Guild Council for being open minded and objective. He complimented the Dean Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences for monitoring the projects. He said that the proceedings from the Guild Canteen will be going to the Guild Treasury.
The Chancellor Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa in his remarks thanked the management for inviting him to oversee the function and be aware of what is taking place. He commended the top management for facilitating developments like the purchase of equipment to aid students in their studies. He appreciated the Guild Council for taking leadership seriously and building the Guild Canteen. He noted that this will always be counted for them and legacy will follow them.
